1. About Java
Yogyakarta was the capital of the Kingdom of Java in the 9th century. Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world, but before Islam predominated there, Buddhism and Hinduism were also the most influential. The golden age of the latter two are symbolized in Yogyatarta: the temple of Prambanan and the Borobudur complex. Both are now recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage Sites.
